Getting started building your pool
How should I select my Pool Contractor?
You must feel confident that your pool project is in good hands, so you should check references, check license on contractor web site, and make sure your contractor is adequately insured.
How much pool can I afford?
Each project is unique, thus making it difficult to quote by phone or give pricing on a web site, but we will gladly meet with you to design a pool and spa that meets your needs. Contact us today to schedule an appointment.
How long does it take to build a pool?
It takes approximately two months to complete a basic pool project.
What kinds of warranties are available on your pools?
Standard manufacturer’s warranty on all equipment, plus one year on our workmanship. The warranty for plaster is one year workmanship.
What is gunite?
Gunite is a mix of portland cement and sand, mixed together with water and shot through a nozzle at high pressure to form the shell of the pool.
What is plaster?
Plaster is the finished surface material of the pool that is applied over the gunite.
What is coping?
Coping is the cap on the edge of a swimming pool or spa, which is mounted on the bond beam.
What kinds of tile are available?
You can choose from many materials: glass, stone, mosaic, Spanish style, etc., ranging in size from ¾” to 6" X 6".

How long will construction last?
It typically takes two months for an average pool to be built.
Will someone be at my house every day?
It depends on how long it takes to get inspections and city permitting.
Can I expect that my yard or side yard accessibility will remain in the same conditions as when we started?
We cannot guarantee that, since it depends on the width of access.
What type of water features can I get with my new pool?
You have a wide range of options, including waterfalls, sheer descents, rain effects, deck jets, swim jets, hydrotherapy jets, among others.
I've heard a lot about saltwater pools. What is it all about?
You can add salt in place of chlorine to the water, which has less harsh effect in several ways, such as eye and skin irritation. Salinity is only 3,000 to 4,000 parts per million (ppm), as opposed to the ocean, which is approximately 35,000 ppm.
What kind of decking can I put around my new pool?
Some of your options are regular or natural gray concrete, colored concrete, stamped concrete, pavers, and natural stones.
How do you dig the hole for the pool?
We may use an excavator, but more often we will use a “bob cat,” and excavation usually takes about two days.
What size is the average swimming pool?
The most common size for a swimming pool is 15' x 30'.

Can I clean my pool myself?
It is not recommended, unless you have a full knowledge of water chemistry and your pool equipment to determine the cause of any issues that will come up. Many people have ruined their plaster by thinking they can handle pool maintenance themselves.
How much will it cost to maintain my new pool?
Plan on spending an average of $100 per month on weekly cleaning services – perhaps less, depending on the size of your pool.
How long will it take to re-plaster my pool?
It usually takes about five days to re-plaster or re-tile an existing pool or spa.
What kind of decking can I put around my new pool?
Some of your options are “regular” (natural) gray concrete, colored concrete, stamped concrete, pavers, and natural stone
How soon can I swim in my pool after it has been plastered or pebble-coated?
You can resume enjoying your pool once it is filled, the equipment is started, and the water is balanced. This takes a few hours, and then you will be ready to swim again!
What type of water features can I get with my new pool?
You may choose from a variety of waterfalls, sheer descents, rain effects, deck jets, swim jets, and hydrotherapy jets, to name a few.
How will I pay for renovating or adding to my existing pool?
There will be a down payment of 10% of the total cost due at contract signing, then there will be a progression of payments at the end of each phase

How much can I expect to pay for a pool?
We can't give estimates through our web site, because each project is unique – but do contact us to arrange an appointment at no cost or obligation to you, to review the many available options.
What options are available to finance my pool?
We accept cash, check, Visa and Master Card. We do not finance pools, nor can we recommend anyone who does.
When do I make payments?
There will be a down payment of 10% of the total cost due at contract signing, then there will be a progression of payments at the end of each phase.
How much will my electric bill increase?
With new energy-efficient pumps available, your energy bill will increase approximately $50 to $100, depending on usage.
After Construction Ends
When can I swim in my pool after it has been plastered or pebble-coated?
Once the pool is filled, the equipment is started and the water is balanced. This takes a few hours, then you’ll be ready to begin enjoying your pool!
Do I have to put up a fence once my new swimming pool is built?
If you have small children that are not strong swimmers, it is always recommended but cities do not currently require a fence be built around pools.
How will I handle ongoing maintenance of my pool and spa?
We can design an ongoing maintenance program to ensure you will enjoy your pool and spa worry-free.
